About The Games

Hi, everyone! My name is Rochelle, but I’m probably better known as Gaming Pixie. I took it on ages ago when I was doing retro game reviews on YouTube (yes, that happened) and it sort of stuck.

Once upon a time, I had a personal blog. I kept one in some way, shape or form even before the word “blog” existed. Then I split my game stuff off into its own game site. Then I didn’t do much with the personal blog anymore. Then I got a full-time job and slowly but surely didn’t do much with my Games site, either, and stuff that used to give my life meaning became an afterthought. But now, I feel like trying again — and keeping everything all in one place the way I used to. For one thing, it’s just easier. For another, quite a bit of what I make (especially stuff like Erase Me) is basically a blog entry in game form anyway.

I’ve been gaming practically since I was old enough to hold a controller, but I didn’t think of making them until 2013 or so. I owe my start mostly to Auntie Pixelante, who led me to Twine. It’s a great way to get started, I think; you can do some interesting things with it, and (if you’re feeling ambitious) it’s also a good way get warmed up with some basic programming ideas. Heck, depending on your goals, it might be all you need. Since then, I’ve also used a couple of versions of RPG Maker and I can use Game Maker Studio, though I haven’t shared any full projects made with it yet.

I want to share stuff because it seems better than not sharing stuff, even if it’s quite a bit scarier. Once in a while, I even find out that one of my games helped someone or made them feel less alone–which could never happen if I kept everything to myself.

Take care,

Rochelle, "Gaming Pixie"

PS–If you’re wondering about the Inkwell, that’s my personal site. Or at least it will be once I’m done setting it up.
